The themes of this series of works are all about the pain that emerges from ruins and the healing of pain. When we see grass and trees covering the space that has become a ruin, sometimes we feel the emotion of loss, and sometimes we feel the emotion of rebirth (recovery). Ruins are often considered a symbol of disappearance, and the ruins of a once prosperous building or city evoke memories of time and loss. However, when these ruins are covered with grass and trees through time and natural processes, they also remind us of the possibility of new life and recovery.
The work shows the space I discovered when I lived in Harbin. By painting the large vines with flowers growing in the collapsed house, it shows the passage of time, leaving only beautiful memories.
